What is Photochemical process?
Photochemical process is a reaction in which photon's energy( Solar energy) used as renewable energy resources in catalyst for chemical rection.
Recently, Indian scientists has developed a new type of catalyst(micro- porous organic polymer) that uses sunlight as source of energy to convert CO2 into methane as Value added products.

- Benefits of this catalyst:
- This catalyst is a micro- porous organic polymer that absorbs visible light to change CO2 into Methane.
- This catalyst is organic, non toxic, metal free, cost effective.
- It has high production rate of Methane that has led to the Carbon capture.
Benefits of carbon to Methane production
- Methane is main constituent of Natural gas and is used as fuel for electricity generation ;
- Methane t is the cleanest form of non fossil fuel can be used fuel cell as hydrogen carrier;
- It reduces carbon dioxide pollution and converts in value added products ;
- This has led to the Carbon capture to achieve sustainable development.
Note- Australia is one of the world’s largest exporters of Coal and liquefied natural gas.
