JIVAN VAYU DEVICE CREATED BY IIT ROPAR |
Breathing device
Jivan vayu is a newly developed multifunctional breathing device that filter air, supply oxygen, and genetate oxygen for patient coping with breathing problems. It was developed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar ( Punjab, India), as a substitute of CPAP machine, under "Make in India Initiative" launched by Indian prime minister for innovation.
What is CPAP?
CPAP stands for continuous positive Airway pressure which is a machine. It is used to treat a patients having breathing problems during sleep called sleep apnea. The machine use air pressure to keep the air ways open for easy breathing.it is also used to treat infants whose lungs have not developed fully. Jivan vayu acts as like it.
Features of jivan vayu device are :
- It is India’s first such device which function even without electricity.
- It adapted to both kinds of oxygen generation units like O2 cylinder and oxygen pipe line in hospital.
- It has inbuilt viral filter at the air entrainment end which has viral efficacy of 99.99%.
- Viral filter ensures that air does not bring in any pathogens from the environment.
- Jivan vayu can deliver high flow of oxygen (20 to 60 LPM means litre per minut) while maintaining of up to 20cm H2O water pressure level.
- This device is designed to maintain an FiO2 of above 40% with a PEEP ( positive end expiratory pressure) of 5-20 cm Water.
- Cost is less than Rs 3000 per piece.
