Nickel free stainless steel 

Scientists of department of metallurgical engineering at IIT-BHU have developed a new type of metal,  nickel free steel. 

  Use of metal:

  • It is used in organ transplantation in human body 
  • To make heart related devices like Stents, pacemaker, valves,etc.
Replacement : 
  1. Nickel is replaced by nitrogen and manganese
  2. Chromium and molybdenum are mixed.

Merits:

  1. It is safe, cheap, 
  2. It does not stick to magnet 
  3. Stronger than stainless steel 
  4. No side effects while nickel have common side effects such fatigue, swelling, skin allergy, heart,  lung, kidney disease.
  5. It doesn't affected by rusting while nickel starts coming out along with various elements on rusting oof metal inside body because nickel has dissolving capacity of 20 milligrams per kilograms.
  6. It is lighter in weight causing reducing weight of devices
  7. Strength is double 
  8. It has good adaptability to body
  9. The mechanical and anti corrossion properties of the metal are higher than those of the currently used stainless steel 
  10. It has absolutely no impurities and has good anti fatigue property. 
Demerits of nickel: 
  1. Stainless steel contains titanium,  cobalt,  chromium and nickel. 
  2. Nickel is corrosive.
  3. It causing diseases and fatigue 
  4. Rusted out
  5. Skin allergy 
  6. Costly 
  7. Impure
  8. Relatively high weight and less strong.
