Indian Roller or Neelkanth

It is an Indian tropical bird found in Indian subcontinent and West Asia.
Features:
- Its name is Coracias benghalensis, commonly known as Neelkanth.
- It is a least threatened species in IUCN.
- It is a state bird of 3 Indian states namely, Orissa, Telangana and Karnataka.
- It is a bird of family caraciidae
- It is 30 -34 cm long
- Face and throat are pinkish
- Head and back are brown
- Wings are light and dark blue
- The bird had two productive phases: one is breeding ( May to July) when they lay their eggs and the second is non breeding ( rest of months of the year)
- It's brain has quite similar to human brain during the breeding season learning and memory is enhanced to identify a partner for courtship, and mating, nest building, territorial marking and parental care.
- It is commonly seen on trees and wires and mainly found in Vindhya Range.
