Why is in News?
Russia and China held a naval drill in the sea of Japan as a part of naval cooperation between the two countries from October 14th to 19th involving warships and support vessels fro Russia's Pacific fleet. A group of ten naval vessels from China and Russia sailed through this strait.
Japan's ties with China have long been plagued by conflicting claims over a group of tiny east China sea islets.
