This practice was largely followed by the higher classes of the society.  It was William bentinck who made it a crime against humanity in 1829 and strongly supported by  Rajaram Mohan Ray. It was the main achievement of British government in India to to modernise the societies of India  Government of India passed an act in 1856 to enable widow remarriage  and  Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidya Sagar had requested for making law regarding widow remarriage.  Government of India tried to practice of killing women infanticide and dowry system.

Topic.                Health diseases                                                             Prelims   Zika virus Zika virus disease is caused by a virus transmitted primarily by Aedes Mosquitoes and Albopictus Mosquitoes, which bite during the day.  Zika is Mosquitoes borne virus that spread through the bite of an infected  Aedes species of Mosquitoes named Aedes Aegypti and Albopictus Mosquitoes by a virus called Zika.  Zika virus is caused by the Same Mosquito that causes Dengue.
