Amur Falcon 





  • A champion migratory bird can cover about 22000 km annually flies day and night. 
  • They are found in pangti ,Wikhla district of Nagaland and are protected under Indian wildlife protection act 1972.
  • They undertaken long migratory journey from colder regions like Siberia, Russia, China among others to Warner places like South Africa, India and Eastern nations. 
  • The avian beauty is sized between 21cm to 31cm, feeds on grasshoppers, dragonflies and insects.
  • They basking in Warmer climes of Gogte salt pans between Nala Sopara and Vasai.
  • Saltpans are made of shallow watered salt pans and two major lakes chutney lakes and Gass. 
  • Salt pans provides food and shelter. 
  • The bird is vulnerable to poaching. 


Indian Roller 

It is an Indian tropical bird found in Indian subcontinent and West Asia. 







Features:

  • Its name is Coracias benghalensis, commonly known as Neelkanth. 
  • It is a least threatened species in IUCN. 
  • It is a state bird of 3 Indian states namely, Orissa,  Telangana and Karnataka.
  • It is a bird of family caraciidae 
  • It is 30 -34 cm long
  • Face and throat are pinkish 
  • Head and back are brown 
  • Wings are light and dark blue 
  • The bird had two productive phases: one is breeding ( May to July) when they lay their eggs and  the second is non breeding ( rest of months of the year)
  • It's brain has quite similar to human brain during the breeding season learning and memory is enhanced to identify a partner for courtship, and mating, nest building, territorial marking and parental care.
  • It is commonly seen on trees and wires and mainly found in Vindhya Range.

  2. Eupetaurus nivamons ( Yunnan woolly flying squirrel discovered in 2021 China) 
OLD-

  • Eupetaurus cinereus(discoveted in 1994. in Pakistan) 

Two woolly flying squirrels species were discovered by the scientists from Australia and China in May 2021.

Key features: 

  • the woolly flying squirrels could be over 3feet long( exact 1100 MM)
  • Weight could be over 2.5 kg.
  • They live at altitude up to 4,800m( more than half of the height of Mount Everest) in areas of uninhabited by the people.
  • They are the rarest animal in the world. 
  • These are some of the largest squirrels in the world
  • They are very gorgeous(shandaar) soft furred squirrels.
  • Location:

  • They live on the top of the world in the Himalayas such as:
    • Northern Pakistan, 
    • North-western India particularly Uttarakhand, 
    • South-central Tibet, 
    • Northern Sikkim,  
    • western bhutan,
    • And North western Yunnan, China .
Threat: Eupetaurus cinereus is threatened by habitate loss, owing to large scale clear cutting of forests particularly destruction of high-elevation pine woodlands.

Himalayan vulture 







Himalayan vulture is also known as Himalayan griffon vulture. 
  • It is a threatened species of International Union for conservation of nature (IUCN)
  • It is Protected in India under the Schedule 1 of the Wildlife protection act 1972 
  •  It is the largest and the heaviest bird found in the Himalayas ;
  • Himalayan vulture's weight are around 14 -15 kg;
  • It is found at 3000 meters height and above in the Himalayas;
  • They can carry and fly away more than 3 times of its own weight and can also kill for its prey;
  • Himalayan vulture is native to the Himalayas and adjoining Tibetan plateau
  • Recently, it is seen at Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand in India.
