WHAT ARE BIOFUELS?

BIOFUELS   Biofuel -  Any liquid fuel made from bi omass - means biological organic component such as trees/plants, grasses, algae , waste matters, animals excreta, sugarcane, corn, excluded kitchen waste, cooked oil etc . Biomass =bio( biological/organic matters) + mass ( quantity in weight or Volume at lar ge ) Producing Biofuels   There are many different biofuels in production or under development and, even the same biofuel might be made in more than one way. Purpose : To help protect, our planet from climate change.  Feedstock :  The feedstock is just the plant or other organic material used to make a biofuels . Agriculture : Most biofuels come from farms. Good farming practices can help trap extra carbon in the soil.  On the other hand, many fertilizers release Green House Gases into the atmosphere. Oil crops : oil crops are the base the production for biodiesel production. For example, rapeseed in UK, soybean in USA for biodiesel,Argentina, Brazi...

Genome Sequencing

What is Genome sequencing? A Genome contains the entire genetic information  (genetic code)  of an organism . Sequencing, it is a way of decoding this information. for example decoding of a viral genome can help us understand how it replicates and mutates. Genome sequencing is a technique that involves analysing the genetic code of an organism and is done with the help of powerful computers. For instance to find out any possible presence a mutation of sars-Cov-2- the virus that causes Covid-19- and understand its role in the infection's transmission and spread.  RNA (Ribonucleic acid ) it translates genetic material to protein. RNA is extracted and converted to complementary Dioxyribonucleic acid (cDNA). This in turn was amplified and cut into smaller pieces ( a process called fragmenting) since the sequencer is designed for a very specific size of DNA fragments. These were tagged with linker sequences (to help link the sample for further steps like barcoding). Each samp...
